O Hotel EasyHotel Lisbon chose DataRoad to implement a solution of VoIP with an IP-PBX phone system, covering approximately 106 PoE IP phones distributed across the hotel's 6 floors, with 101 rooms connected to the internal communications network.

What did the project consist of?

The installation covered the entirety of the building, with coordinated work between network infrastructure and telephony configuration:

• Installation of approximately 106 PoE IP phones distributed across the 6 floors of the hotel;
• IP-PBX telephone system configuration for internal communications between rooms, reception and services;
• Integration with the existing network infrastructure, including internet access, firewalls and switches;
• Advanced feature configuration of call management tailored to hotel operations.

Why voice over IP makes sense in a hotel

In a hotel with more than one hundred rooms, a traditional telephony system quickly becomes limited and expensive to maintain, especially when it is necessary to scale lines or add features. An IP-PBX switchboard over the existing data network makes it possible to centrally manage all extensions — rooms, reception, internal services — reduces maintenance and dedicated cabling costs, and opens the door to advanced features such as call forwarding, digital voicemail and integration with other hotel systems. Because the solution is based on the same POE network, installation and future expansion also become simpler than with traditional analogue telephony.
